The Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) has five levels from the N5 to the N1. The N3 is the middle level, and covers lower intermediate Japanese grammar, vocabulary, Kanji, and reading. The test covers about 3,000 Japanese vocabulary terms - including some of the vocabulary words from the beginning JLPT N4 and JLPT N5 tests.
Good for being able to read and understand written materials with specific contents concerning everyday topics and grasp summary information such as newspaper headlines.
You should be able to comprehend coherent conversations in everyday situations, spoken at near-natural speed, and is generally able to follow contents as well as grasp the relationships among the people involved in the communication.
